The Cordillera Region never ceases to be amazing. On the municipality of Bontoc Mountain Province for instance; feature a myriad of adventures great for nature lovers and serenity seekers alike! It would be interesting to note that time crawls in this region and you would definitely taste every sweet moment of it. Rediscover what’s in store for you on one of the most scenic spots in the Cordilleras.

The Maligcong Rice Terraces

The passage of time brought about the rise of new technology and architecture, though it barely shows any sign when you visit the heart of Maligcong terraces. The culture and tradition of the people remain to be in tack; and their hospitality is deeply engraved as well.

Mt. Kupapey

Mt. Kupapey provides you another perspective on the beautiful terraces of Maligcong. Hiking for approximately an hour would welcome you to a facade that fills your eyes with wonderlust. The trail to the summit is very easy and recommended for beginner hikers as well. An easy hike and a rewarding view? What’s not to like about that?

Mt. Fato

Another easy hike with another angle of Maligcong is Mt. Fato. Together with Mt. Kupapey, these two nearby mountains will definitely give you jaw-dropping views of the terraces. From the sea of clouds, the beautiful sunrise/sunsets, to the misty clouds along the trail – this is definitely one of the reasons why we love outdoors!

HOW TO GET HERE

Bontoc is a long way to the North if you’re coming from Manila. There are actually two ways to reach it – either pass thru Baguio City (recommended) or pass thru Banaue Ifugao. Passing thru Baguio City is the recommended way since it’s actually shorter and have little traffic (especially on the highways going to Bontoc). Though for people who get dizzy easily, be prepared for a whole lot of zigzagging along the way.

Public Transport

  • Ride a bus (Victory Liner Cubao/Pasay) from Manila to Baguio City
  • From Baguio City, ride a taxi to Dangwa Terminal. It’s also an option to rent a jeepney here if you’re in a large group.
