Probably the most unique and exciting adventure you could have in the island of Cebu! It prides itself with its Canyoneering and Diving adventures! So we’ll skip this yapping and start rediscovering.

How to Get Here

Via Public Transportation
Take a flight from Manila to Cebu. Upon arrival at Mactan airport, take a cab to Cebu Bus Station South Terminal. Take the hourly trip to Moalboal, prefereably the Ceres bus liner. When you get off, you’re now at the town proper of Moalboal. Welcome!

Where to Stay

There will be a mayhem of places to stay depending on your preference. Though we strongly suggest that you just ride a tricycle directly to Panagsama beach and choose from a lot of cozy inns, lounges, or resorts. Travel by the bay and you will notice a lot of restaurants in the area. Enter this area and it will lead you to a lot more inns and food stores.

You could also choose to stay at the resorts near White Beach. This is the farthest from the town though certainly not the least. A third option is to take up rentals on the town proper itself.

Budget

Values below does not include any food or miscellaneous expenses. Also this will only include expenses that we had incurred along the trip.

River trekking! This is a must! No questions asked.

The best way to get high on Cebu island is experiencing this unique canyon trek thru the cyan waters of Matutinao River. And did say, you could do it either upstream or downstream?! Feel the rush on every jump! Then do it over and over and over and over again!

This is offered by many tour services around town such as Action-Planet Adventure, and Cyan Tour Adventures. Though you could just go out and ask the locals. They could actually charge you lesser than these tours.

Bring your own dry bag. In case you don’t have one, the guide will carry one for you.

So lets get down to business and rediscover our experience below!

The famous 3-stage Kawasan Falls. Technically a part of Badian municipality, it is famously visited because of its cyan fresh waters and scenic facade. You could reach it in two ways. The easy way is to travel to Badian. If you’re coming from Moalboal, then take a bus going to Badian and just tell them to drop you at the Kawasan entrance. You would then walk about 1.5km to reach the falls from here. The hard way, would be to take the Matutinao River Trek downhill (previous tab) – which will end your journey at the Kawasan falls!

You could spend your night on resorts at Kawasan. Room rates will range from 900php to 3000php per night. If not, tables and life jackets are available for rent. You could bring your own food and rent grills here. Stores are also available here.

Unlike the White Beach, Panagsama is actually composed of dead corals and seaweeds at the shoreline, though its also where you could see the famous Sardines Run! A horde of tuna circling the area and blocking any sunlight underneath. It’s best to scuba and go beneath this marvel of nature. Though feel free to free dive or snorkel around to feast your eyes!

PANA3

Sardines come by a specific time of the day to this area and there are tons of them!

PANA1

Sit back and enjoy the afternoon at the shores of Panagsama!

White Beach

A sandy white beach at the northwest part of Moalboal. The best way to reach this is to rent your own scooter and travel your way northwest of the town. You won’t miss this as this is probably the most popular beach on town. You could also opt to ride a tricycle going here.

It’s a great place to have picnics, sun bathing, swimming, and just lazing around and enjoying the scenic view.
