Mt. Batolusong is probably one of the famous hiking spots near the Metro – simply because of its close proximity, relatively easy trail, refreshing windy climb, and a relaxing waterfall bathe at the end! For technical details and hike info (which a non-mountaineer like me seldom understand.lol), please visit Pinoy Mountaineer here.
Located at the province of Tanay Rizal, Mt. Batolusong emerges to be one of the top picks for day hikers! Featuring beautiful arrays of grassland slopes and stretches of scenic landscapes and mountain ranges, it’s a beautiful and relaxing climb all the way. So before you get bored about platonic descriptions, here are the specifics and a little sneak peek on what you could find in rediscovering Mt. Batolusong!
HOW TO GET THERE
Public Transport
- From Cubao Araneta Center, just find a jeepney going to Cogeo. They could be just waiting at the intersection of EDSA and Aurora Blvd. (Click here for a graphical route of Cubao to Cogeo)
- Drop off at Cogeo Gate 2 or Cogeo public market.
- Just past the public market and Cogeo City Mall, you would find a terminal of jeepneys going to Barangay Sampaloc. Ride one of those. Note: Earliest jeepney departure is 5am
- Get off at Barangay San Andres entrance. There’s a large signage of the barangay here and a waiting shed as your landmark. (Click here for a graphical route of Cogeo to Brgy. San Andres)
- From here, you could rent tricycles and bring you to the jump off area (Sta. Ines Rd).

Hi Sir!, thank you for this information. ask ko lang if you have idea kung until what time nagla-last yung “river of clouds”?, and may cp# kb ng kahit sinong guide dun? tnx tnx! ^_^
Hello Roy,
No cp numbers but that won’t be a problem when you get to the jump off point. Arrangements take just 5 to 10mins and you’re off. Sea of clouds there seldom occur but if they do, it’s until 7am. So better start your hike around 5 or so 🙂
Enjoy your hike!
hi sir. inquire lng po namin if possible na sumakay ng jeep going tanay from starmall edsa instead of cubao going cogeo? thank you.
Hi Jen,
Honestly I’m not sure as well. I know there are vans/jeepneys going to Tanay from there though, I think they will be passing via Taytay and not via Sumulong highway. It will be a longer route if you plan to go to Tanay town proper and ride a trike there. I suggest you go for the suggested route.
But if they would say they would be passing by Cogeo, then that will be ok. Cutting it short, as long as you’ll reach Cogeo, all is good. You could study the map it’s closer not passing by Tanay town proper and shorter via Sumulong highway.
Regards,
Ambiance
Hello Sir,
Is there a parking space in the jump-off and is it safe to bring my car?
Thanks!
Eric
Hi Eric,
Technically you could bring your car, but if you’ll be doing the traverse, then you won’t be going back where you parked. better have someone pick you up at the exit point. unless you do a traverse then do a reverse to go back the trail. 🙂
Hi Rian,
Yup possible. The trail is pretty easy anyway. They allow overnights for an additional fee. Night treks, you just need to inform the guide. Better go there around 6pm then if guys want to climb on a later time then it really depends on the guide. 🙂
Hi, i am going to hike on my own. bukas na actually. is it safe if i go alone with the guide? Thankyou. and can i get tips from you guys.
Hi Sérieux,
Yes that won’t be a problem. Batolusong is quite an easy hike so going alone (plus guide) won’t be a problem.
Enjoy your hike!
Hi Femabelle,
Yes there is.

Hi Grace,
Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully naging maayos yung hike nio. No need to contact any guide as they would assign a guide for you at the jump off point.
Thank You.
No reservation n? Thanks
Hi Mathet,
Yes, no reservations needed 🙂
sobrang maputik po ba yung daan pag umulan?
at kung may madadaanan bang delekado konti?
Hi Vic,
Hi Maryjoy,
Short answer is yes. DENR actually has issued a statement regarding this.
Also its better to have a guide even if you already know the mountain very well.
Di mo alam kung ano pede mangyare xau, at ang guide madami yan kakilala/shortcut/taguan/diskarte pag nagkataon.
They’re your best buddy in any mountain even minor climbs like Batolusong.
can i use your one of your
photos just for our hiking event poster
Sure go ahead. Just don’t forget to link back 🙂 Thank You.
